Does your Java Neo handlebar feel too low?
Many Java Neo riders find themselves reaching too far forward or leaning lower than they would prefer. Because the Java Neo uses a fixed-height trifold handlepost rather than a telescopic handlepost, its riding height cannot simply be extended upwards.
Depending on the bicycle variant, the stock Java Neo M-bar generally provides approximately 30mm to 50mm of elevation. Replacing it with a 90mm, 100mm or 120mm high-rise M-bar raises the hand position and creates a more upright, relaxed riding posture.
This upgrade is suitable for taller riders, riders who feel hunched forward, and anyone who prefers reduced forward reach, more relaxed shoulders and a more comfortable urban riding position.

Why the front brake hose must also be replaced
The original front brake hose is sized for the lower stock handlebar. When a 90mm to 120mm M-bar is installed, the stock hose may not provide sufficient length for correct routing and steering movement.
Our complete package replaces the original front hose with a Shimano SM-BH90 hydraulic brake hose, installs the required fittings, refills the system with mineral oil and performs a full front-brake bleed.
The hose length has already been measured for this application, allowing the front assembly to steer and fold correctly without excessive tension.

120mm is the most commonly selected elevation. It provides the greatest increase in handlebar height within our recommended range. We do not recommend exceeding 120mm because the ends of the handlebar may contact the ground when the bicycle is folded.

The upgraded M-bar is installed and positioned so that the Java Neo can continue to fold and unfold normally. With the appropriate elevation selected for the bicycle, the ends of the handlebar remain above the ground when fully folded.
For a 16-inch Java Neo, 90mm is the recommended maximum height without a rear rack. Customers who wish to use a 100mm or 120mm bar on a 16-inch model must have a rear rack installed to increase the bicycle's folded ground clearance.

Booking and collection information
Installation normally requires approximately 3 to 4 hours. Customers who require same-day collection must contact us beforehand so that we can confirm workshop availability for the preferred date and time.
Overnight collection is recommended. Walk-in drop-offs are accepted for overnight jobs, although arranging an appointment in advance is still encouraged.

Java Neo elevated M-bar upgrade FAQ
Which M-bar height should I choose?
The available options are 90mm, 100mm and 120mm. Most customers choose the 120mm version for the largest increase in handlebar height and the most upright riding position. The most suitable option can also depend on your bicycle's wheel size and folded clearance.
Can I use an M-bar higher than 120mm?
We do not recommend exceeding 120mm. A taller bar may cause the handlebar ends to contact the ground when the Java Neo is fully folded.
Why can't the original front brake hose be reused?
The original hose is sized for the lower stock handlebar and may become too short when a 90mm to 120mm M-bar is installed. The Shimano SM-BH90 replacement provides the required length for correct steering, routing and folding movement.
Will my Java Neo still fold normally?
Yes. The bar and hose are installed with the Java Neo folding movement in mind. For a 16-inch model, 90mm is the recommended maximum elevation without a rear rack. A rear rack is required when using a higher bar on a 16-inch model.
Can I bring my own elevated M-bar?
Yes. Installation with a customer-supplied compatible M-bar is priced at $85 and includes the Shimano BH90 hose replacement, hydraulic fittings, mineral oil, brake bleeding and installation.
Can the M-bar or brake hose be shipped for self-installation?
No. Replacing a hydraulic brake hose requires appropriate fittings, mineral oil, bleeding equipment and correct installation procedures. This upgrade is offered as a professional carry-in service at The Bike Atrium.
What warranty is included?
The package includes a six-month warranty covering manufacturer defects affecting the supplied M-bar, brake hose and installation workmanship. Damage caused by misuse, impact, unauthorised adjustment or user modification is not covered.
